- Why do I need an account to use WidgPet?We require you to create an account so that we can properly link the pets you create to you. Without an account, we would not be able to do that.
- How do I create an account?
Click Sign In to start.
There are several options to use when creating your account. You can create an account with your email and a password, or you can use your Google or Facebook account to create your account on WidgPet.
- When I use Google or Facebook to create my account on WidgPet, does that mean you know my password?
That is a big resounding "No!"
Using one of these options to create an account on WidgPet does not allow us to see your password. It is simply a way to log in to WidgPet without having to create an account from scratch.
- Is the standard version of WidgPet really free?Yes it is. There are some features and widgets that are not available on the free version of WidgPet, but if all you need to do is keep track of your pet's data, then the free version should cover all of your needs.
- What is the difference between the free and paid versions of WidgPet?
The paid version of WidgPet adds a number of features including the ability to upload documents as part of your pet's medical and medication records, the option to store photos (in addition to your pet's main image), and access to email help. We have additional subscription-only widgets planned and will be posting more information about those shortly.
A few details on the paid features:
- Document Upload - This feature allows you to store documents along with your pet's medical and medication records.
- Photos - This feature allows you to store photos of a pet in the system.
- Email Support - As we are a small team, email support is restricted to subscribers only. For subscribers, if after reviewing the help section you are unable to find your answer, please reach us via the Contact Us page. Be sure to submit the same email address as your account, or reference your email address in the message to us. We will try and respond to you as quickly as possible.
- How much does a WidgPet subscription cost?WidgPet subscriptions will be $3.00/year, though for now, as we are in beta, WidgPet is 100% free.
- Do you accept Apple Pay, Google Pay and credit cards?
At this time we are only accepting PayPal for payment as we are working on other exciting features for WidgPet. Expect to see other payment options becoming available soon.
- Can I get a refund for my WidgPet subscription?
We are sorry to hear that WidgPet is not working for you. Prior to requesting a refund, please reach us via the Contact Us page so that we can try to resolve whatever issue you are having with the site. If that doesn't work, we are happy to proceed and process your refund.
Some specifics about refunds.
If for any reason you are unsatisfied, we will gladly refund your subscription within 7 days of purchase. If more than 7 days have past since the purchase or if the Pet Sitter widget has been used, whichever comes first, all sales are considered final.
To request a refund, please reach us via the Contact Us page. Be sure to either email us from the same email as your account, or reference your email address in the message to us and select "Subscription Support" as your topic. We will try and respond to you as quickly as possible.
- Creating an account
To create an account, start by clicking Register in the upper right, or click here to be directed to the Registration page.
There are several options when creating your account. You can create an account with your email and a password, or you can use your Apple, Google or Facebook accounts to create your account on WidgPet.
- What is a dashboard?
A dashboard is a page that displays one or more widgets. When you created your account, your first dashboard was created and included a number of default widgets. From here, you can rename this dashboard, create new dashboards, set your default dashboard, and delete dashboards.
- What is a widget?
Widgets are small software components that are great for performing specific tasks such as displaying your local weather, a stock ticker, the news, etc. On WidgPet, widgets are focused on specific tasks such as creating pets, tracking their weight, adding veterinarian information, etc.
- Will you be adding other widgets to WidgPet?
That is very much the plan. Our approach to developing WidgPet allows us to easily add new widgets to the site. We currently have numerous ideas for new widgets in various stages of work.
As we release new widgets, we will post information to the News section. In addition, we will be launching an email newsletter that will (occasionally) go out with updates on new widgets, stories of users, etc.
If you have suggestions for new widgets, you can reach us via the Contact Us page. Be sure to include any relevant details about your suggestion that will help us better understand how we can improve the site.
- Is there a WidgPet app available?
Not at this time. WidgPet is mobile friendly though, so feel free to access via the browser on your phone or tablet.
- How do I edit data on the page?
The site has been designed to allow you to click to edit on the page. Examples of this behavior are as follows:
- If a field accepts text, you will see the field outline when it is activated.
- If a field is a drop down, the options will appear when activated.
- If a field input is a calendar, the calendar picker will appear when activated.Note that you can also directly key in the date without having to use this option.
When complete, click out of the field and the data will be saved.
- How do I add a photo for my pet?
To add a photo, either click on the placeholder image and select a photo from your device, or drag and drop a photo directly on the placeholder image.
Note that we do not currently offer image cropping or rotation, so you will need to ensure the image is as you want prior to uploading.
- How do I rename a dashboard?
To rename a dashboard, must make sure you are on the dashboard you are renaming. Next, click the name of the dashboard near the top of the page. You are now in edit mode and can change the dashboard name. When complete click elsewhere on the page to save the change.
- Can I change the theme for my dashboards?
Yes, you can select a light or dark theme to view your dashboards. To do this, click the profile icon in the upper right. In the Themes area of the dropdown, select the theme you prefer and the site will reload with your new theme selection.
- How do I add another dashboard?
To add a new dashboard, click the profile icon in the upper right. In the Dashboards area of the dropdown, click the green add icon. A new dashboard will be created. You can click on the default name to change to something else.
- How do I delete a dashboard.
To delete a dashboard, click the profile icon in the upper right. In the Dashboards area of the dropdown, click the delete icon next to the dashboard you wish to delete.
Note that deleting a dashboard will have no impact on your pet's data. That remains safely stored on the server.
- How do I add widgets to a dashboard?
To add widgets to your dashboard, click the profile icon in the upper right and select Widgets from the dropdown. To add a specific widget, clear on the gear icon for the widget and check the check box.
- How do I change the way a widget appears on a dashboard?
There are several actions you can perform with a widget on your dashboard. To access the widget controls, click the Gear icon in upper right of each widget.
To change the width, select a number from 1 to 6. This will cause the widget to grow wider or narrower. Note that this change may cause the layout of widgets on your dashboard to shift. Note that this option is not available on mobile where widgets will display full page width.
To change the height, select a number from 1 to 6. This will cause the widget to grow taller or shorter. Note that this change may cause the layout of widgets on your dashboard to shift.
To move a widget, select “Move widgets”. This will unlock the widgets and allow you to move them around. When active, your cursor will change from an arrow to crossed arrows when you mouse over the top of a widget. To move a widget, click-hold the top and drag it to the new location. Once you have moved it to the new location, release your mouse. This will re-lock all widgets on the dashboard.
- How do I remove a widget from a dashboard?
To remove a widget, click the gear icon in the upper right of the widget you wish to remove. In the dropdown, select “Remove from dashboard”. This will remove the widget.
- What happens to my data if I remove a widget from a dashboard?
Removing a widget from a dashboard will have no impact on your data. That remains safely stored on the server.
- What can I do if my pet passes away?
First, we're very sorry to hear that has happened. It is never easy losing a pet, no matter how long they have been with you. They are members of the family.
If the unfortunate happens, there are two ways that you can address this in WidgPet. The more permanent is to click the delete icon in the My Pets widget. The system will ask you to confirm that you wish to remove the pet and all its data. If you select "Yes," your pet and all of their data will be removed from the system. Note that this is permanent and cannot be undone.
There is a second option which is to change the Status of your pet from "Active" to "Deceased". By default the system does not show deceased pets in the dropdowns at the top of the widgets, nor will they appear in the My Pets widget unless you specifically search for the status "Deceased". When your pet appears in the search results, click the launch icon next to the photo to load the pet into the widgets on your page.
If you accidentally set your pet to "Deceased," after loading the pet into the At a Glance widget, change the status back to Active.

- Does WidgPet sell my personal data?
